Maximiliano Contenti is a passionate film director and artist from Montevideo, Uruguay.

Born 1984, his love for movies was evident from childhood, which led him to grab a camera early and create a large variety of awarded short films. In 2008, at age 23,  he made his first feature film, the indie horror-comedy “Muñeco Viviente V» (Puppet Pal V trailer). It became a cult film in his home country, marking a bold start to his career.

Maxi’s 2012 documentary “Hélices: Revelando una Tragedia» (Blades: Revealing a Tragedy trailer) won the Best Documentary at the AtlantiDoc Festival in Uruguay. In 2017 he co-directed the uruguayan horror-comedy “Neptunia» (Available on FILMIN, Spain trailer ).

In 2013 he founded his film company label Yukoh Films.

Contenti also collaborated as the film editor on the comedy film «Relocos & Repasados» (High Five, 2013 trailer) and the sport documentary “Teros: Sueño Mundial” (Teros: WorldCup Dream, 2015 trailer)

In 2020 his horror film “The Last Matinee» (Al Morir la Matinee trailer) garnered critical acclaim and international attention. The film was an official selection at more than 30 film festivals, including Sitges, PanicFest and Mar del Plata. It also won the Best Film at the Curtas Festival in Spain among many other awards. From indie horror-comedy to gripping documentaries, Contenti’s work is a testament to his diverse creativity and boundless passion for movies.

Some of his upcoming projects include the cosmic horror “The Channeling” (XYZ, Rustic Films LINK) and his comedy drama “Webmasters” (U Films, Yukoh Films LINK), both already in production. He´s also in development of the coming-of-age «The Projectionist» (Googie Productions LINK).
